Merai Community Guidelines

Core Principles

• Kindness first: always treat others with empathy and compassion. We encourage you to be a positive force in the community.
• Respect boundaries: never pressure, coerce, or guilt anyone into sharing personal information or engaging in activities they are not comfortable with.
• Be authentic: misleading, impersonating, or using fake profiles is strictly prohibited. We use verification features to help keep our community authentic and safe.
• Zero tolerance for hate: there is no place on Merai for racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, casteism, body shaming, hate speech, or any other form of discrimination.
• Emotional safety: we ask that you respect our features designed for emotional well-being, such as slow dating, vibe tags, emotional statuses, and closure nudges.
• Keep it legal: do not promote or engage in any illegal activity.
• Use of Chingu (AI companion): Chingu is your AI companion. It can guide and support you with gentle nudges and conversation tips, but it is not a human, moderator, or professional advisor. Please use Chingu responsibly and with respect.

Prohibited Behavior

The following actions are a direct violation of our guidelines and will result in enforcement actions:

• Harassment, threats, bullying, stalking, or intimidation.
• Sharing sexually explicit, obscene, or exploitative content.
• Ghosting abuse — the repeated act of leaving conversations without closure after meaningful engagement.
• Sharing personal or private information about others without their explicit consent.
• Manipulation, coercion, gaslighting, or any other emotionally unsafe conduct.
• Scams, phishing, spamming, or fraudulent behavior.
• The use of bots, automation, or third-party scripts to manipulate activity on the platform.
• Misuse of features like Relationship Mode or community spaces (e.g. promoting dating in platonic-only settings).
• Attempting to bypass or interfere with Merai’s Karma System, Red Flag Detector, or any other moderation processes.

AI & Moderation Support

To ensure your safety, we utilize both automated and human moderation:

• Merai uses automated tools like the Red Flag Detector AI, Karma system, and ghosting nudges to detect and flag harmful or unsafe behavior.
• Our in-app AI tools, such as the Chingu buddy and AI co-pilot, may step in to guide, support, or provide warnings during interactions.
• Human moderators may review flagged cases to ensure fairness and uphold user safety.

By using Merai, you consent to these automated and human moderation practices for the purpose of community safety.

Enforcement

Violations of these guidelines may result in a range of enforcement actions, from warnings and temporary suspensions to permanent bans. Severe violations, such as harassment, hate speech, or fraud, may result in immediate removal from the platform and, if necessary, legal reporting.

If you believe an action was taken in error, you can submit an appeal to Merai Support.
