Merai Data Retention & Deletion Policy

Merai is committed to protecting your privacy. We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to provide a secure, personalized, and emotionally safe user experience. Once data is no longer required, it is securely deleted or anonymized in compliance with applicable laws.

Data Retention Timeline

Your data is retained for different periods depending on its purpose:

  • Active users: your data is kept for as long as your account remains active.
  • Inactive accounts: we retain data for up to 24 months after your last activity, unless you delete your account sooner. This allows you to easily return to your account without losing your profile.
  • Deleted accounts: your core data is permanently deleted from our active systems within 30 days of your account deletion request. Backup and security logs may be retained for up to 90 days to meet legal obligations and for fraud or security prevention.
  • Safety & moderation logs: to maintain community integrity and protect against repeat offenders, data related to Karma scores, Red Flag Detector AI records, and moderation reports may be retained for up to 24 months.
  • Technical data: anonymized technical data, such as device, crash, and analytics logs, may be retained for an extended period for product improvement purposes. This data cannot be used to identify you.

Data Deletion Requests

You have full control over your data. When you request deletion, we will take the following actions:

  • Your profile, photos, videos, voice intros, and all story-card content will be permanently removed.
  • Your chats, matches, and media will be deleted from our active system.
  • Any progressive reveal content (blurred photos, video loops) you have created will be erased.
  • All data from your interactions with our AI features, such as the Chingu buddy prompts and co-pilot suggestions, will be deleted.

We may retain residual anonymous metadata for analytics and to comply with legal and moderation requirements, as applicable by law.

How to Delete Your Account

Option 1: Delete via the app

  • Open the Merai app.
  • Go to Settings › Account › Delete My Account.
  • Enter the required OTP and confirm your deletion.

Option 2: Email request

  • Send an email to novadatingapp9@gmail.com with the subject Account Deletion Request.
  • In the body of the email, include your full name and registered email address or phone number. You can also provide a reason for deletion, but this is optional.

We will verify your identity and process your request within 7 business days.

Cancellation of a request

If you change your mind during the deletion process, you may request to cancel your deletion before it is finalized.

Our Commitment

Your trust is important to us. We will only keep your data for as long as it is needed to:

  • Deliver Merai’s features.
  • Protect community safety from fraud, harassment, and other detected red flags.
  • Meet legal and regulatory obligations.

After our specified retention timelines expire, your data is permanently and securely deleted or anonymized.
